What does the Architectural & Environmental Committee do?

The Architectural and Environmental Committee (commonly called A/E Committee) serves two purposes.  They enforce the CC&R’s that regulate our community, including such violations as tall grass, accumulations of trash, barking dogs and inoperable vehicles.  The Committee also reviews plans for all new construction and improvements to structures.  In plain language, this hard working group ensures that new homes and remodels comply with guidelines, and eyesores and unkempt lots are remedied.  (Do you need a Complaint Form or an Architectural Review Form?)

What does the Civic Affairs/Neighborhood Watch Committee do?

The Civic Affairs Committee was charged with advising the Board of Directors on all matters pertaining to the Discovery Harbour Disaster Preparedness Team, and the Neighborhood Watch Program.  Neighborhood Watch patrols the community twice a day, seven days a week, paying special attention to homes where absent owners have requested a walk-around.  All of the drivers in this program are volunteer members from the community; new volunteers are always needed.

What does the Common Grounds Committee do?

This Committee is tasked with overseeing the maintenance of the buildings and grounds under common ownership of the Discovery Harbour Community Association.  This includes our Association office and assembly hall and building housing the volunteer Fire Department fire suppression truck.  Tasks completed in 2013 include the installation of solar panels, a new roof, exterior and interior painting of all buildings, new gutters and improved landscaping.

What does the Social Committee do?

The Social Committee was established to foster a sense of community by organizing fun and interesting events where members can meet and socialize.  All of our social gatherings contribute so much to the feeling of the community, bringing our Members and guests together in celebration.  In addition, the Committee greets new residents to the community through our Welcome (E Komo Mai) Wagon.
